In north-eastern Nigeria children have experienced family separation, violence (including gender based violence), abuse, exploitation, neglect, association with armed forces and armed groups, conflict with the law, and psychosocial distress.
CHAD International is an active member of Education in Emergency Working Group (EIEWG) of Borno state chapter. This coordination body brings INGOs and NNGOs in Borno state together under the share goal of ensuring predictable, well-coordinated and equitable provision of education for the populations affected by humanitarian crises in the Northeast.
The body (EIEWG) focuses effort on responding to the emergency needs in education facing the people of the region (Northeast Nigeria). The EIEWG is chaired by the Borno state ministry of education (BSME) and Co-chaired by the United Nations Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and Save the Children. The EIEWG coordination forum functions within the principles and guidelines of Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC), which CHAD is part of as a local implementing partner. This forum seeks to ensure that the children affected by emergency in Northeast Nigeria receive timely, quality and appropriate scale response to their education need.
